1. Information We Collect
OtterPlan processes only minimal information necessary to provide the service. We do not require account registration and do not collect personally identifiable information.
Automatically Collected Information
- IP Address — Used solely for API rate limiting purposes and deleted on server restart.
- Browser language preference — Stored in localStorage and never sent to our servers.
- Travel destination — Temporarily stored in sessionStorage and deleted when the tab is closed.
Information We Do Not Collect
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other PII
- Payment information
- Location data (GPS)
2. Third-Party Services
OtterPlan uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google Maps Platform — Used for map display, place search, and autocomplete. Privacy Policy
- OpenAI API — Used for travel plan generation. User inputs (destination, travel style, etc.) are sent for AI processing. Privacy Policy
- Google AdSense — Used for displaying ads and may use cookies. Ad Policy
3. Cookies & Local Storage
- localStorage — Stores only the language preference (otter_lang). Contains no personal information.
- sessionStorage — Temporarily stores travel destination for the current session. Automatically deleted when the tab is closed.
- Third-party cookies — Google AdSense and Google Maps may set their own cookies.
4. Data Retention
API response caches are stored in server memory for up to 7 days and are cleared on server restart. IP-based request logs are maintained only in memory and deleted on restart. No user data is permanently stored.
5. Children's Privacy
OtterPlan is not directed at children under 14 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Your Rights
Since OtterPlan does not collect personally identifiable information, there is no data requiring deletion requests. You can clear localStorage and sessionStorage directly through your browser settings.
7. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated as the service evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through this page.
